Recently, according to a report at a meeting on promoting the creation of "Charity Happy Homes" in Shangluo City, as of now, a total of 721 Charity Happy Homes have been built in the city, covering 55.6% of administrative villages and communities. Since the launch of the initiative in 2021, Shangluo City has raised a total of 33.7 million yuan in mutual aid funds for villages and communities through both online and offline channels.
The project has also established 32 elderly canteens, serving seniors a total of 1,325 times; set up 700 Children’s Homes, providing care for 2,240 left-behind children; and registered 19,396 village- and community-based charity volunteers.
In the Charity Happy Home of Wuliqiao Community, Chengguan Street, Shanyang County, the "Love Canteen" is filled with the aroma of food. The elderly gather around, eating lunch and chatting happily.
"The food here is delicious and there's a great variety. I've been eating here since it opened," said Grandma Li, a community resident. She is a regular at the Charity Happy Home and, at meal times, always comes to dine here along with other seniors.
On May 8th of this year, the Charity Happy Home in Kangjiaping Village, Moshanguan Town, Shanyang County, was officially launched.This facility is not only a warm-hearted kitchen and happiness station carefully designed for elderly residents, but also a caring project aimed at promoting charitable culture and enhancing grassroots social governance.
In Zhen'an County, the Binhe Jiayuan neighborhood stands as the largest affordable housing community, home to 1,454 households comprising over 4,700 residents. This community has a relatively high concentration of disadvantaged groups, elderly living alone, and left-behind children. In recent years, Binhe Jiayuan neighborhood has been actively exploring innovative paths to integrate Charity Happy Homes with day care centers.
Staff members have been working tirelessly to raise funds from various sources, with caring enterprises responding enthusiastically and residents participating eagerly. They have managed to raise a total of 340,000 yuan in mutual aid funds and secured 1.2 million yuan in project funding. As a result, a 2,000 square meter Charity Happy Home was constructed in Binhe Jiayuan neighborhood.
It is reported that Shangluo City will focus on eight key areas to advance the work: deepening understanding, accelerating categorized construction, completing platform registrations, promoting fundraising models, seeking support from Party committees and governments, strengthening interdepartmental coordination, enhancing supervision and publicity, and focusing on the needs of the elderly and children.The city aims to ensure that more than 80% of administrative villages and communities have their Charity Happy Home projects fully completed and operating normally by the end of this year.
