On January 12, 2025, despite the biting cold wind of winter, the Xintang Township Happiness Station in Chaisang District was filled with warmth and affection. That afternoon, the Chaisang District Government Office's Committee for Caring for the Next Generation, in collaboration with the Chaisang District Women's Volunteer Service Federation, organized a meaningful care event for local left-behind children. A team of six members, filled with concern and goodwill, traveled a long distance by car to reach the station.

Mr. Zhang Shuhua, the Executive Deputy Director of the Chaisang District Government Office's Committee for Caring for the Next Generation, a seasoned veteran who has long been dedicated to children's growth, personally led the team for this visit. Accompanying him was committee member Ms. Zhang Min. Both are acutely aware of the deep-seated longing for care and attention in the hearts of left-behind children. They hope that through this event, they can light a warm beacon for these children, bringing them hope and comfort. President Li Chunlan of the Chaisang District Women's Volunteer Service Federation was equally enthusiastic. She led volunteers Huang Xiaochun, Huang Lingyan, and Li Xianzhi, who meticulously prepared various supplies and an engaging program. Their efforts were all aimed at bringing joy and happiness to the children.

At the Happiness Station, long before the event began, 20 left-behind children from Xintang Township were already filled with anticipation. Accompanied by their grandparents, whose steps were slow yet eager, or cared for by their understanding older siblings, these children arrived early at the station to wait. The parents of these children are often away, striving tirelessly in unfamiliar cities to provide better living conditions for their families. As a result, the children can only spend countless quiet nights gazing at the moonlight, yearning for their distant loved ones, guarding that hard-to-reach affection in solitude. The wistfulness in their eyes and their profound longing for love tug at the heartstrings.

As the event kicked off, the volunteers quickly settled into their roles. Calligraphy enthusiast Huang Xiaochun volunteered to become a calligraphy teacher, guiding the children step-by-step in how to hold a brush pen and dip it in ink, carefully writing blessings for the New Spring Festival. Initially hesitant and shy, the children gradually found their rhythm; their Chinese characters began to take shape, and confidence sparkled in their eyes. Meanwhile, the skillful Huang Lingyan started a paper-cutting workshop. Colorful sheets of paper danced lightly between her fingers, soon transforming into lifelike small animals and festive window decorations. The children watched in awe, captivated by the magic of her hands, before eagerly trying their own hand at the craft. The small Happiness Station was filled with laughter and joy as the children immersed themselves in these traditional activities.

The game segment brought the atmosphere to its peak. Simple relay races and joyful riddle-guessing games allowed the children to momentarily forget their usual loneliness, letting their childish innocence shine through. They ran and shouted, their cheeks flushed with excitement. In the end, as the volunteers presented each child with carefully prepared New Year gifts and distributed delicious snacks, the surprise in the children's eyes blossomed instantly. The radiant smiles on those innocent faces were like warm spring sunshine, dispelling the chill of winter. This caring event for left-behind children, though brief, planted seeds of warmth and hope in the hearts of the children. It provided not only material gifts but also spiritual comfort, offering these somewhat lonely children a profound sense of being loved and cared for by the larger community. The event transformed the harsh winter into an exceptionally warm season for them. Looking to the future, the loving forces from all sectors of Chaisang District will continue to converge, committed to supporting these children and ensuring their skies remain clear and worry-free.
