In 2024, the official annual data for China's shipbuilding industry was released, with China leading the world in all three major indicators of the shipbuilding industry for 15 consecutive years. The completion volume of China's shipbuilding industry reached 55.7% in 2024, indicating that more than half of the ships delivered globally were made in China. China's order backlog accounted for 63.1% of the global market in 2024. The new orders received by China were exceptionally high, with China securing 74.1% of the global new shipbuilding orders in 2024, meaning that more than seven out of ten ships to be constructed subsequently will be made in China.
