On April 25, the launch ceremony of the 7th Beijing Municipal Storytelling Activity for Educators in Schools and Kindergartens, titled "Nurturing Talent for the Party and the Nation," as well as the inaugural Sub-Center Storytelling Event on Educational Stories by the Canal, was held at the Tongzhou Campus of Beijing No. 2 High School. The theme of this year's Beijing storytelling activity is "Vigorously Promote the Spirit of Educators and Accelerate the Development of the Nation's Premier Education Hub."

Yu Weiyue, Director of the Teacher Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education; Li Junfeng, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Education Work Committee; Zhang Yulei, Deputy Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Education Work Committee; Wei Xubin, Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission; Guan Guozhen, President of the Beijing School Moral Education Research Association; and Hou Jianmei, Member of the Tongzhou District Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda, attended the event.

Relevant officials from the Beijing Municipal Education Work Committee introduced that this year’s storytelling activity for educators from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions as well as kindergartens will place greater emphasis on the integration of the five aspects of education (moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education). It aims to distill practical wisdom, balance specific examples with broader themes, and promote positive interactions and shared growth among teachers, students, parents, and the community, highlighting the unique appeal of “Big Ideological and Political Education.” At the same time, the event will focus more on “four combinations”: integrating the launch of storytelling activities with practical guidance, combining thematic storytelling with comprehensive showcases, merging teachers’ storytelling about nurturing students with students’ storytelling about their personal growth, and linking school education with family and social education. These efforts aim to effectively enhance teachers’ political qualities and professional competence while building a strong community for holistic education.

The launch ceremony began with a retrospective video of previous editions. Shen Jinghong, Vice President of the Beijing School Moral Education Research Association, presented the plan for this year’s storytelling activity for educators from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions as well as kindergartens. This year's event focuses on key objectives such as fostering moral character and nurturing talent, emphasizing broader, deeper, and more comprehensive participation. It aims to create a vibrant scenario where every district, every educational stage, and every school actively shares their stories.

During the launch event, six storytellers took the audience on a profound journey through the educational ecosystem of the sub-center: Zhang Zhiqiang, principal of the Central Kindergarten of Zhangjiawan Town in Tongzhou District; Liu Xue, lead coordinator for the “Integrated Ideological and Political Education” initiative in Tongzhou’s primary schools; Jiang Zhenzheng, an ideological and political teacher at Luhe Middle School in Tongzhou District; Song Pingming, a teacher from the School of Marxism at Beijing Wuzi University; Wang Fuyin, Party Secretary of Renmin University of China’s Tongzhou Campus and Director of the university’s Information Technology Center; and Shang Xuefang, principal of the Ciqu Homeland Campus of Luhe Middle School Affiliated School. Through heartfelt narratives, they guided the audience from the innocent enlightenment of kindergarten to character-building in primary and secondary schools, from collaborative education involving families, schools, and communities under the motto “The sub-center is ours,” to the far-sightedness and inclusiveness of higher education institutions. These grassroots educational stories from the sub-center are not only crystallizations of pedagogical wisdom but also echoes of the original mission of education.

As an important brand activity in Beijing's education system, the storytelling event for educators from primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions as well as kindergartens inspires great wisdom through small details and elevates broader perspectives with simple yet profound truths. It provides fertile ground and a stage for the growth of "great educators," showcasing the comprehensive effects of holistic education. Since its launch in 2019, hundreds of schools and kindergartens have participated, with nearly ten thousand teachers passionately sharing their stories. These narratives vividly demonstrate the excellent spirit and dedication of educators in the new era of the capital. Each edition of the event has seen a wealth of deeply moving educational stories, laying a solid foundation for the thriving development of Beijing’s education sector.
