(CCTV News) On May 12, Colombian President Gustavo Petro arrived in Beijing. During his visit to the Great Wall that day, he stated that Colombia plans to join the Belt and Road Initiative.
President Petro said: “We plan to join the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Today, the Belt and Road Initiative has extended across the globe, and I believe it can drive the development of a new generation of industries. Latin America and Colombia are free and independent; we establish relations with any country in the world, no matter where it is located, always based on freedom and equality. Therefore, we have decided to take an important step toward deepening cooperation between China and Latin America.”
